Well now is the time to get your young chicks ! will start laying in Jan. Be ready for the spring Money making in selling your chicks or having your own eggs. SILKIES The Silkie (sometimes spelled Silky) is a breed of chicken named for its unique, fluffy plumage, which is said to feel like silk. The breed has several other unusual qualities, such as dark blue flesh and bones, blue earlobes, and five toes on each foot (most chickens only have four). They are often exhibited in poultry shows, and come in several colors. In addition to their distinctive physical characteristics, Silkies are well known for their calm, friendly temperament. Among the most docile of poultry, Silkies are considered an ideal pet. Hens are also exceptionally broody, and make good mothers. Though they are fair layers themselves, only laying about three eggs a week, they are commonly used to hatch eggs from other breeds and bird species. Silkies most likely originated in China, but Southeast Asia is also sometimes proposed. The first written account of the breed comes from Marco Polo, who mentioned chickens with fur-like plumage in his Asian travelogues in the 13th century. The Renaissance author Ulisse Aldrovandi also spoke of chickens akin to Silkies. Today, the breed is recognized for exhibition, and is fairly common in the poultry world. Black Australorp Chickens were originally referred to during their development as Black Utility Orpingtons. They were crossed with a variety of different breeds with the intention of maximizing egg production in a bird of that size and try to sacrifice as little meat production per bird. Black Australorps have grown increasingly more popular with the growth of the "backyard chicken movement". They are dependable layers that are extremely comfortable in confined spaces and are quite easily handled, making them great backyard pets for those who want to produce their own eggs with limited space 334-422-4226 DOZIER -
Trained Western Pleasure/English/Trail Trained Western Pleasure/English/Trail Doc O'Lena granddaughter that's been trained for all the events and has been trail ridden everywhere. Rides well with all horses. UTD on everything. Cross ties, ties, clips, baths and loads very easily. Would make an excellent horse for someone beginning or experienced in showing. Her pedigree can been viewed on allbreedpedigree.com under Athenas Pearl. She's very sensitive, no need for spurs. Although she's 17 and been there, done that, she requires no special treatment or feed. My husband bought another horse and Pearl is not getting ridden. If you're not interested in showing, breed for some great bloodlines. I would really like for Pearl to go to a good home, call and make an offer. I will accept cash or money order only. Newville $ 4,000.00 OBO
